There are many factors that are associated to causing acne; which include hereditary, hormonal balance, oily skin, candidiasis, and monthly menstrual cycles. Other types of factors include stress, allergies and the use of certain types of drugs, which are lithium, some anti-epileptic medication, oral contraceptives, and steroids. The skin is the largest organ of the body and eliminates a portion of the body's toxic waste by perspiration (sweating). If the body contains more of the toxins for the kidney's or the liver to effectively get rid of, then the skin takes over. Actually doctors have said that the skin is the "third kidney". As the toxins discharge through the skin, the skin becomes oily and clogged which is a key factor behind a lot of skin disorders, including acne. Here are some great ways on reducing the chances of your skin having a breakout.
1. Drinking water constantly throughout the day will help your kidney's flush out the toxins that have built up in your body.
2. Eating fruits and vegetables is highly recommended because it contains essential vitamins and minerals to help keep acne from flaring up. This will effectively enhance your immune system.
3. Good hygiene is also important on keeping your acne at bay. I recommend showering twice a day, before bed and again upon wakening. Before bed because it is less likely for the dead skin cells to shed onto the pillow, which clog the pores on your face. Shower in the morning because the body sweats during the night. This leads me to the next tip.
4. Change the pillow case frequently which will lower the chance of the dead skin cells and dirt on getting into the pores.
5. Apply ice to the affected area which will reduce swelling and is known to get rid of acne. I recommend doing this for a couple of days to see results; very effective.
6. Once you have done that apply toothpaste to the pimple or blemish at night and rinse gently by morning. The toothpaste will extract the dirt and clean the pore. Weird but also effective.
7. Most importantly take daily vitamins such as B and C. Vitamin B is the anti-stress vitamin which improves blood flow to the surface of the skin; very important for a healthy skin tone. I recommend taking a 100 mg of a vitamin B complex three times daily. For vitamin C, I recommend taking 1000-1600 mg three times daily to promote a strong immune function which will reduce inflammation.
